About us
Who we are, how we work and what we stand for.
Palestinians have the right to freedom, dignity and self-determination. In the Netherlands, too, their voices deserve a full place in the public debate.
The Palestine Information Centre (ICP) is an independent information and communication platform for Palestine. We were established out of the conviction that the Dutch public has the right to complete, honest and accessible information about Palestine, its history, its present-day reality, and the consequences of Dutch and European policies.
For decades, the Dutch debate on Palestine and Israel has been shaped in part by established political and civil society organisations. At the same time, Palestinian voices, experiences and perspectives have not been given sufficient space in this debate. ICP aims to change that.
We work directly with Palestinian grassroots organisations, NGOs, civil society initiatives, researchers, journalists and other organisations. We bring together their knowledge, stories and demands and make them accessible to the Dutch public. In doing so, we look not only at what is happening today, but also at the historical and political context needed to understand current events.
From Information to Change
We believe that information does not have to remain neutral when fundamental rights are being violated. Knowledge can move people to take action. An informed society can ask questions, demand accountability and drive political change.
That is why we want to go beyond simply providing information. We want to connect, put issues on the agenda and mobilise.
We bring Palestinian organisations and Dutch civil society initiatives together, make their shared demands visible and ensure that these demands find their way to politics, the media, civil society organisations and the wider public.
Our goal is to narrow the gap between what people know, what they can do and what happens politically.
Our Mission
Our mission is to place Palestinian voices and rights at the heart of the Dutch public debate, inform the public and organise social power to achieve concrete change.
We are committed to:
- Accessible and reliable information about Palestine and its history;
- A central place for Palestinian voices, organisations and experiences;
- Raising awareness of human rights, international law and the political reality in which Palestinians live;
- Building connections between Palestinian grassroots organisations, NGOs and Dutch civil society initiatives;
- Building social and political pressure to give concrete form to Dutch and European responsibility for Palestinian rights;
- Making the concrete demands of Palestinian civil society organisations visible and working towards their implementation.
